Instruction Manual
Congratulations with your Gyre SeaCleaner!
To make sure you are aware of all the available functions in the ‘SeaCleaner’ we have put together this instruction manual. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper use of your watch and all its functionalities!
The watch is resistant to water depths up to 100 meters (330 feet). It is suitable for swimming, but it is not a diving watch.
The Crown has 3 positions:
Position A. Normal position, in this position you wear the watch.
Position B. Date position, for quick setting of the date. Do not set between 20:00 and 02:00 (8:00 PM and 2:00 AM)
Position C. Hands position, to set the hands/time.
How to set it up correctly
The SeaCleaner is equipped with a solar powered movement that is charged by light.
- Pull out the crown to the outermost position (C) and turn the crown to set the time. Check if, at 12 o’clock the date is changing to determine if it’s AM or PM (if it’s day or night).
- Pull out the crown once (one ‘click’ to position B) and turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Or in other words, with the watch in hand - dial facing towards you - turn the crown slowly towards you. Don’t do this between 20:00 and 02:00 (8:00 PM and 2:00 AM). For the months that have less than 31 days you must manually reset the date at the end of that month.
- Gently push the crown to the watchcase until you feel some resistance (position A)
- Your watch is now ready for use.
Alert! Make sure that the crown is tight to the case! The watch will not be water resistant if the crown is not placed in correctly. Misuse of the crown voids the warranty.
As long as the battery is not completely discharged, just wearing your watch is enough to recharge it, whether by natural or artificial light.
If the movement has run out of energy and the watch has stopped or is slowing down sharply, place it under strong light (such as a smartphone flashlight) for at least an hour. Advisable is direct sun light for an hour.
The Bezel of the SeaCleaner
The unidirectional rotating bezel of your watch, is used for measuring dive or flight time. The shape of the bezel is designed to assure easy turning by hand, even with gloves. For safety reasons the bezel only rotates counterclockwise, so if the bezel is turned unintended, it will indicate a longer diving or flight time.
At the beginning of a dive or a flight, turn the bezel so that the minute hand matches with the zero mark (inverted triangle) on the bezel. The minute hand on the bezel always shows the number of minutes that have been elapsed since the start of your dive or flight.
How to take care of your SeaCleaner
Your watch needs some limited attention. The following tips & tricks will allow you to ensure reliability and protect its appearance over the course of time.
Cleaning
Rinse your watch regularly with tap or even better soapy water, especially after using it in salt water.
Seals
Over time, the seals inside your watch may deteriorate. We recommend that the water resistance of your watch is reviewed at least once year by a watchmaker/jeweler. You can also contact us at Gyre (team@gyrewatch.com) for this check and/or to replace the seals.
NOTE: never operate the crown when the watch is in contact with water!
Crystal
The sapphire crystal is scratch resistant and is treated with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface to improve readability. To clean the glass, use a soft cloth only.
Temperature
CAUTION: Although our SeaCleaners have been tested at 10 ATM water resistance, we do not recommend moderate to major temperature differences. This might result in condensation and/or water damage within the watch.
NATO-strap
To change the strap you have to remove the push pins or have that done for you.
To replace the strap, place one of the two ends of the bar in one of the holes inside the lugs. Then pull the free lug and place the second end of the bar in the hole provided for this purpose inside the horn while releasing the lug.
And finally, a tip from one of our satisfied customers. If you're having difficulty putting on the SeaCleaner while inserting the end of the strap into the buckle with one hand, try this:
With the watch completely off the wrist, with two hands, put the end of the strap into the buckle and put the tine through the first hole from the end. Place the watch and strap over your hand and onto you wrist. Take the end of the strap and just pull it as tight as you want and fasten it in its normal position.
ENJOY!
